Alice in Wonderland

I never thought that this book and especially the movie was so great. I'm more of a movie person than a book person. At first, I just thought it would be a boring movie to start off with, but in the end it was a great choice. I really enjoyed the movie and the class activity that we had to do and best of all, we won the Oscar award!!!! YAY!!! I never really was interested in this movie or book since I was a kid. I remember watching it back in elementary school, but I never really enjoyed it, or perhaps I did not understand what was going on in the movie because of the way they spoke. I'm not saying that I dislike British accent, but it is hard trying to understand what they are saying. So I never really was interested in the movie or book. When the new Alice in Wonderland came out in 2010, I just thought it be a boring remake movie with fairy tale like scenes, but now since we watched the newest one in class, I think the movie is awesome!! I never thought that this book was British literature, even though the characters in the movie do speak British, I just thought it took place over there or because the author wanted it to be British like. Yes, I know I sometimes think very odd. Overall, I really enjoyed watching the movie. I'm exploring and learning things that I never realized that are British literature, or just in general. I think that without this class, I would not be learning about these books that I never thought were British literature and I would not be watching these great movies that I am missing out of.

  1. Yea I never understood the first movie either, but for some reason I enjoyed watching it when I was little and I still do not understand it. I also thought the movie we watched in class was going to be confusing like the first one but I liked it way more.

  2. I agree with the whole not understanding what the movie is about. It just seems like a super creepy dream with a big headed queen and a pot smoking caterpillar. I don't like a British accent either, I don't understand it at all. I'm not good with accents though. I had always enjoyed the story, but just because you like the story doesn't mean that you have to be able to understand it. :)

  3. I definitely understand what you mean when you say you were never really interested in this book as a kid. I didn't understand what it was about, but for some reason I was always interested in it. I remember watching the Disney cartoon version years ago and getting creeped out...A lot of people have said that Lewis Carroll was on drugs when he wrote it, but no one really knows whether he was or not. I guess if he was it would explain why the entire story is so "out there"!

  4. I agree with you that it is hard to understand the movie, especially with the British Accent. I actually watched this movie twice and still don't quite understand it. Haha. But, I do like all the special effects in the movie. The logic behind this movie was hard to understand.

  5. I totally agree about not understanding some parts of the story or movie. I never actually saw the full movie of the first Alice In Wonderland. It was a Disney movie geared towards kids but I guess that due to not seeing all of the plot I was left in the dark. After watching the new movie of Alice in Wonderland though I was like "wow I actually have an understanding of what is happening." Now that I think about it, maybe I should go back and watch the first movie since I have a better understanding.
